    Pregnancy & Childbirth Series
    (we recommend a series if this is your first pregnancy)
    This five-week series will cover topics including variations of labor and birth, breathing and relaxation, tips for your support person, pain relief, and care for the new mom and baby. Recommended for 1st time parents. Includes a facility tour.

    Tuesday 5 part series:
    Time: 6:30 - 8:30pm
    Cost: $60.00
    January 9 - February 6, February 13 - March 13, March 20 - April 17, April 24 - May 22, May 29 - June 26, July 10 - August 7, August 14 - September 11, September 18 - October 16, October 23 - November 20.

    Sunday 4 part series:
    This series includes tour and covers the same topics as the five-week series in three hour sessions. Optional infant/child CPR offered on the fourth week for an additional fee.

    Time: 2:00 - 5:00pm
       (3 Sundays plus 4th Sunday - Infant/Child CPR is offered)
    Cost: $60.00
       *plus $20.00 per person if signing up for the Infant/Child CPR class

    January 7 - 28, February 4 -25, March 4 - 25, April 1-29 (skip April 8-Easter), May 6, 20, June 3, 10, *July 22 & 29 (2:00-6:00pm) CPR for this series will be on June 24*, August 5 - 26, September 9-30, October 7 - 28, November 4 - December 2 (no class on November 25)

    Super Saturday Class:
    This class combines the information from the Pregnancy and Childbirth series into an all-day Saturday class. A good option for those moms-to-be who would have difficulty attending five weekly sessions. Includes a tour of the facility. Breathing and relaxation is not included in Super Saturday.

    Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm
    Cost: $60.00

    January 13, February 10, March 10, April 14, May 19, June 9, July 21, August 11, September 15, October 13, November 3, December 8. (Breathing & Relaxation is not included in this class)
    *Tours are included in the series and Super Saturday class


    Breastfeeding Class:
    (take this class in your 7th or 8th month)
    This informative session includes breastfeeding basics: how to get started, correct positioning and technique, tips for returning to work, and an overview of breast pumps. Fathers-to-be are encouraged to attend!

    6:30-9:00pm (Mondays)
    Cost: $25.00

    January 15, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, December 3


    Breathing and Relaxation Class:
    (take this class in your 7th month)
    Study and practice various breathing and relaxation techniques to help you cope with the early stages of labor. This class runs from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. NOTE: This class is only available at our Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center location.

    6:00-9:00pm (Wednesdays)
    Cost: $25.00

    January 17, February 21, March 14, April 18, May 23, June 13, July 11, August 15, September 19, October 17, November 7, December 12 *Please dress in comfortable clothes, bring a pillow and your support person when possible.


    CPR for Infants and Children:
    CPR is different for infants and children. This class teaches families how to deal with airway obstruction and full cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The class runs from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. NOTE: This class is only available at our Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center location.

    6:00-9:00pm (Thursdays)
    Cost: $20.00 per person

    January 11 or 25; February 8 or 22; March 8, 15, or 22; April 12 or 26; May 10, 17 or 24; June 14, 21 or 28, July 12 or 26; August 9, 16 or 23; September 13 or 27; October 11, 18 or 25; November 8 or 15; December 6 or 13.


    Marvelous Multiples Saturday Class:
    (take this class at 20 weeks)
    A complete childbirth course geared for parents-to-be of twins, triplets, or more! Tour of the intensive care nursery is provided. Breastfeeding and CPR are not included. NOTE: This class is only available at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center location.

    8:30am-4:30pm
    Cost: $60.00

    March 24, June 1, August 25, October 20.


    Sibling Class:
    (targeted for siblings 4-10 years old)
    This class is designed to include brothers and sisters in the excitement surrounding the birth of a new sibling. We'll promote family bonding and help reduce jealous feelings. A tour of the birthing facility is included in this class.

    6:30-8:00pm (Fridays)
    $10.00 per child
    (targeted for siblings 4-10 years old)

    February 2, May 4, September 7, December 14. *at least one parent must stay with child/children for the class. (recommended ages: 4- 10)


    *a one time $5.00 registration fee is required when registering for classes. Classroom space is automatically reserved for two when signing up for classes except for CPR and the Sibling Classes.

    *You may call the Covenant Call Center @673-FORT to reserve a class or if you need to charge class fees with a credit card.

    * Classes fill up 2-3 months in advance, so please register early (by your 4th or 5th month - you will be scheduled to take your classes during the 6th or 7th month of your pregnancy). We recommend that you be finished with your classes 4-6 weeks before your due date. Register Online now.

    • Some Insurance Companies will reimburse for some of your classes. Please check with your Insurance Provider. Cariten will give their patients a coupon good for up to $100.00 towards our classes. Aetna, Cigna and Blue Cross have reimbursed for classes…it may depend on your particular policy. Other Insurance Providers may also reimburse, please check with them. Usually the Insurance company wants you to pay for your classes, attend them , then file a claim. If a letter for proof of payment/attendance is required please ask and we can provide you with one. If you are on TennCare or financially challenged we can help with the cost of the classes, please ask for this assistance if needed.

    • Please dress in comfortable clothes when attending classes
